Before school ended we had a Personal Project session in which we discussed what the Personal Project was about, we were also divided into groups in order to discuss our idea if we already had one. I already knew I wanted to do extensive research on the vegetarian diet, including what it consists of, the benefits, the downsides, the nutrients that might lack, and some substitutes, I had also already decided that I wanted to create a meal plan that includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner ideas for an entire week, in addition, this would contain italian recipes as I’m Italian, furthermore, this would also be reviewed by a dietitian in order to make sure the plan was nutritious ad balanced. In addition, I also wanted to create an Instagram account where I posted images of the recipes from my meal plan and others as well. Therefore, today, I emailed Miss Grosch and explained to her my project in detail and stating why I wanted to focus on this topic and asked her whether my project could be considered STEAM-related.

Miss Grosch replied later that day and she was really glad that I was reaching out for my project, she added Miss Flores to the email I sent as she is the STEAM coordinator, this way she could give me the correct answer.

By doing this I applied a variety of ATL skills such as creative and critical thinking, communication, and organization skills. I used creative and critical skills as I came up with an original idea for my project in which I was very interested in and with which I strongly connected, in addition, I also used critical thinking skill as I had to come up with an idea that I was passionate about but that I was also able to execute and that would also be useful for my community. I used communication skills as I had to precisely explain my project’s idea to Miss Grosch, explaining in detail all the components and also why this was something that I was interested in and how it connected with me. In addition, I also used organization skills as I showed initiative and emailed Miss Grosch to explain to her the project in order to complete the first steps.
